Wine and Cheese Tour

We’re in Vienna. It’s time to switch gears, pack our panniers and get back on our bikes. Yeehaah, we’re cycling through Europe!

What’s the route you ask? Well, we took out our highlighters, combed through our maps, went through our guide books and scoured the internet. Here’s our thinking: Temperature is a big factor when cycling so it would be best to start north and go south. Vienna seemed like a good place to start (beautiful, “never been”, close to the places we wanted to see and the tickets were cheap). France or Spain would be a good place to end the trip (beautiful landscapes, world class cycling routes, and really, really good cheese ;-) ). So..umm…that’s pretty much our route. We have a firm starting point, a “rough” endpoint (which BTW, we reserve the right to change on a whim at any time) and a whole bunch of stuff we want to see in between. (No straight line between A & B here). We set off in a few days. At this point, we’re not entirely sure in which direction we will point the bikes. :-D West to Germany along the Danube? East to Bratislava or maybe even northwest to the Czech Republic? It’s all good. Aaaahh, not knowing what you will see or where you will be….its grand!

Stunning architecture, gorgeous landscapes, great roads and amazing food; cycling in Europe is fantastic. It’s “pure luxury”. We’re making it a point to take our time, take tons of pictures, drink as much wine as we can and stop off at every bakery and pastry shop along the way. (We all have our priorities…mine are all chocolate related). We’re not quite sure whether to call this the “Wine and Cheese Tour” or the “Pure Gluttony” tour; both apply. Either way, “Welcome”.
