Have you ever felt so happy, so overwhelmed with joy that you feel like you could just pass out? Today was one of those days. It wasn’t any one particular thing; it’s a whole bunch of things. It’s not just that we’re together in a beautiful place, doing something we love. It’s also the thrill and excitement of the adventure, the unknown. Not knowing what tomorrow will bring. That free-fall feeling you can only get from letting go of your security blanket. Wink, wink…nudge, nudge. Am I tempting you to forget all the “what ifs” and “yeah buts” that are stopping you from doing that one thing you really want to do? Good! Awesome! Excellent! That pleases me.
Okay, yes…it is easier said then done. And yes, there was a certain amount of luck involved in getting us here (health, support from our friends, each other etc). It also takes something else. Some call it “Balls”, some call it “blind faith”; most would call it “stupidity” and “irresponsibility”. I’m not sure but whatever it is, I’m really thankful for it.
Go ahead…take that first step. Do it! Do It! DO IT! It’s really the hardest part.

Maria …. can I help you out with a night in a luxo hotel in one of the bigger cities along the trip?
Send me a private message (email) and let’s see if we can figure out a night that you KNOW you are going to be in town X…. then let me call Starwood and see if we can get you one night in a place with big tubs and clean sheets. That is why some of us collect hotel points!
I figure it is the least one can do what with you doing all the living for those of us who enjoy it all vicariously (spelling?)

I’ve been reading your blog for some time now ever since Paul N. talked about it on his own blog. You have indeed inspired me. My husband and I are planning on quitting our jobs in early 2009 and taking off for an indefinate period to travel. We are packing up and giving notice on our apartment and putting stuff that we want to keep in storage. I don’t know where we will eventually settle. My husband is tired of Vancouver and I could use a change myself. I am scared of cutting the security blanket but excited at the same time. Reading your experiences had made it easier for me to come to terms with what is happening for me in 6 months. Enjoy your travels.

Hi Sandy,
Okay, I never said I was wise, just very, very happy.
That’s a tough one though. I think we all struggle with that one. Maybe it’s just part of the whole process.

Wow Charlene!
That’s fantastic! We are both very happy for you and your husband. Good for you for following your heart. It’s not easy letting go of what is safe and more certain, but the rewards you get in return are priceless.
Thank you so much for your comment. You really made our day. Will you be keeping a blog? We would love to follow along.
We wish you and your husband many exciting adventures!

Hi James,
Clean sheets and a tub?!!! What’s that? They sound vaguely familiar.
Thank you James! That is so generous we don’t know quite what to say.

Charlene - GOOD FOR YOU! I hope your adventure is as much fun as Spiros and Maria seem to be having!

Maria - no big deal…. happy to help
As to what to say - just call down to room service and ask for more towels!
