It was the desire for adventure, to see and experience something a little different that prompted us to change our plans and go to Tunisia. Did we get it? Well, let’s see. We cycled past wild camels, cycled through fierce sandstorms, cycled past roman ruins, by berber ruins, slept in the Sahara Desert, had a million flies hitch a ride on our backs for a few km, we’re cheered on, were pelted by rocks, were fed by kind strangers, were invited in for tea, were dazzled by the dancing abilities of one six year old and were left absolutely speechless by the spirit of one incredible family living blissfully in the middle of nowhere. Some days I questioned our sanity, other days I was moved to near tears. Yes, I’d say we got the adventure we were looking for. This is travelling.
Once again, we say goodbye to Africa…but we’ll be back one day.
