Are you or are you planning to cycle through Vang Vieng? If so, stop by the Phoudindaneg Youth Center near the Organic Farm, about 4km north of town on Highway 13. The Youth Center was established by the Organic farm and the Asian Volunteer Action Network to provide educational and fun activities for the local youth.
On the road in Laos we met Gareth, an Australian cyclist who has come up with a great idea to help the local community. He is setting up a bike repair center. The idea is to get the locals kids involved in fixing and maintaining bicycles. So if you have any spare parts or tools that you would like to donate, they would surely be put to good use here.
